Postal Officer 
Job Description
(a) manning post office counters and the safe custody of cash and negotiable stock;
(b) sorting mail of all categories and completing documentation relating to the receipt, movement, delivery and dispatch of mail;
(c) mail processing duties including handling of parcels and Speedpost items;
(d) accounting, financial, auditing, clerical and statistical duties; and
(e) performing postal inspectorate and/or staff supervision duties, etc. (He/she is required to work shifts and/or overtime as necessary; and may be required to wear uniform.)
Requirements
Applicants should have – (a) Level 2/Grade E or above in five subjects (may include Chinese Language and English Language) in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and
(b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKCEE, or equivalent.
Notes: (Notes : For civil service appointment purpose, "Grade C" and "Grade E" in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to "Level 3" and "Level 2" respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE or thereafter.)
Terms of Appointment:
A new appointee will be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, the officer may be appointed on a 3-year agreement prior to consideration for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
Remuneration
Salary: Master Pay Scale Point 5 ($11,580) to Master Pay Scale Point 17 ($22,985) per month
General Notes:
(a) Civil service vacancies are posts on the civil service establishment. (b) Application Forms can be obtainable from any Public Enquiry Service Centres of District Offices, Home Affairs Department or any Job Centres of the Employment Services Division, Labour Department. The said form can also be downloaded from the Civil Service Bureau's website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). (c) Completed forms should reach Appointments Section, 4/F, Hongkong Post Headquarters, 2 Connaught Place, Central, Hong Kong on or before the closing date for application. Please clearly mark on the envelope "Application for the Post of Postal Officer". (If by post, the postmark date on the envelope will be regarded as the date of application.) (d) Applications submitted by fax or email will not be accepted. (e) Applications that are incomplete will not be considered. (f) On-line application can also be made through the Civil Service Bureau's website (http://www.csb.gov.hk). (g) Candidates who are invited for written test/selection interview will normally receive an invitation in about sixteen to eighteen weeks from the closing date for application. This period may be longer if a large number of applications are received or under other special circumstances. Those candidates who are not invited for written test/selection interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
